In a major step toward transforming the state’s educational landscape, Chief Minister Mr. Hemant Soren announced that the Jharkhand government has initiated the recruitment process for 2,600 assistant teachers across the state. This move aims to strengthen the teacher-to-student ratio and elevate the quality of education from primary to higher levels.
Speaking at an official programme, Mr. Soren emphasized the importance of education in shaping the future of the state and said, “We are taking every necessary step to upgrade our education system, both at the foundational and advanced levels.”
New Appointments Strengthen Ground-Level Teaching Force
As part of this initiative, Mr. Soren distributed appointment letters to 301 newly recruited assistant teachers. Out of these, 131 will be deployed to teach classes 6 to 8, while 170 will serve in classes 1 to 5.
This follows an earlier distribution of 909 appointment letters to assistant teachers on September 2, bringing the total number of teacher appointments in recent weeks to over 1,200. These strategic appointments are expected to reduce classroom pressure and ensure individual attention to students.
Project-Based Learning and NEP Integration Introduced
Further aligning with the National Education Policy (NEP), the Chief Minister also launched a project-based learning programme aimed at improving practical understanding and student engagement. This initiative is designed to make learning more dynamic and skill-oriented across government schools in Jharkhand.
Mr. Soren remarked, “With changes like digital blackboards, online teaching, and the introduction of artificial intelligence, the education system is evolving rapidly. We must ensure that Jharkhand does not lag behind.”
CM Schools of Excellence to Rival Private Institutions
Highlighting the need to provide quality education across all sections of society, Mr. Soren underscored the government’s initiative to establish CM Schools of Excellence, which aim to offer education comparable to reputed private institutions. “We can break the monopoly of private schools with sustained efforts and public trust,” he said.
The Chief Minister acknowledged the historical challenges in Jharkhand’s education sector and called for collective responsibility to change the perception of the state as merely a labor-driven economy. “The stigma can only be removed through education,” he added.
Accelerating Educational Growth Through Policy and Action
Mr. Soren reiterated the government’s relentless focus on revamping the educational ecosystem. From smart classrooms to teacher recruitment and digital inclusion, Jharkhand is preparing to transition into an education-forward state in alignment with national standards.
