Kamesh Kasana Appointed Director (Other Units) at BEL; Aims to Boost Tech-Led Self-Reliance

BEL appoints Kamesh Kasana as Director (Other Units), effective July 14, to drive innovation and self-reliance.

BangaloreBharat Electronics Limited (BEL), a Navratna Defence PSU under the Ministry of Defence, has officially appointed Shri Kamesh Kasana (DIN: 11194293) as Director (Other Units), effective 14 July 2025. The appointment was approved through a formal communication from the Ministry of Defence on the same date.

A Veteran with Over 30 Years at BEL

Shri Kasana joined BEL in 1993 and brings over three decades of expertise in defence systems engineering, program management, and strategic leadership. A graduate in Electronics and Communication Engineering from NIT Kurukshetra, he also holds a PG Diploma in Business Administration, along with certifications in Six Sigma (Green Belt, DMAIC) and Project Management Professional (PMP).

Throughout his career, he has played a vital role in indigenization, modernization, and the development of critical technologies, especially in defence communication and command systems.

Led a High-Growth Business Unit

In his previous role as General Manager and Business Head of the Military Communication Strategic Business Unit at BEL’s Bengaluru Complex, Shri Kasana led a rapid transformation. Under his leadership, the unit crossed a turnover of ₹1,000 crore, driven by operational restructuring, product innovation, and enhanced customer engagement.

He was instrumental in timely delivery of large-scale projects, improving customer satisfaction and strengthening BEL’s market position. His team successfully executed landmark defence projects for the Indian Army and Navy, including the Akashteer Air Defence Control and Reporting System and advanced C4I systems for naval platforms.

Vision for Innovation and Self-Reliance

As Director (Other Units), Shri Kasana will now lead multiple units across BEL. His strategic vision focuses on accelerating R&D in emerging technologies such as AI, quantum communication, autonomous systems, and space technologies.

He aims to deepen collaboration with DRDO, ISRO, MSMEs, private firms, and international partners, building a resilient defence technology ecosystem. Operational excellence, green energy adoption, and modern manufacturing systems are also part of his roadmap, in line with BEL’s long-term goals and the national vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat.

Appointment Terms and Compliance

According to the official communication, Shri Kasana’s appointment is for five years or until further notice, whichever comes first. He holds no conflict of interest with the Board and is not disqualified under Section 164 of the Companies Act, 2013.

With this appointment, BEL reinforces its commitment to innovation, sustainability, and technological self-reliance. Shri Kasana’s proven track record, technical depth, and forward-looking approach make him well suited to guide BEL through its next phase of growth and transformation.
