1987-batch IPS officer Mr. Alok Mohan, the seniormost serving IPS officer in the country, is expected to receive a four-month extension in service, starting May 1st. Currently serving as the Director General of Police (DGP) in Karnataka, Mr. Mohan was scheduled to retire on April 30th.

Dr. Alok Mohan is renowned as one of India’s most senior and esteemed police officials. At the age of 22, he embarked on his illustrious career in the Indian Police Service.
Dr. Mohan is an alumnus of IIT Roorkee and Harvard University, USA. He holds multiple degrees, including an MSc (Hons), MPhil, MPM (Master in Public Management), and a Ph.D. in India’s Internal Security. Additionally, he has participated in executive management programs at various Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs).
