New Delhi: In a fresh round of central postings, two IPS officers have been appointed to significant leadership roles under the Ministry of Home Affairs. The appointments place them in crucial positions within the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) and the Bureau of Police Research & Development (BPR&D).
Mohit Chawla Joins ITBP as DIG
Mohit Chawla, a 2010 batch IPS officer of the Himachal Pradesh cadre, has been appointed as Deputy Inspector General in the Indo-Tibetan Border Police. He is presently serving in his state cadre and will take up the new role on deputation basis.
The ITBP, a central armed police force, is tasked with guarding India’s Himalayan frontiers and plays a vital role in high-altitude border security. Chawla’s appointment strengthens its leadership ranks with an experienced state cadre officer.
Guguloth Amrutha Assigned to BPR&D
Mrs. Guguloth Amrutha, a 2011 batch IPS officer of the AGMUT cadre, has been appointed as Deputy Inspector General in the Bureau of Police Research & Development. She is currently serving in her cadre and will take up the central posting on deputation basis.
The BPR&D functions as the nodal agency for modernisation, training, and capacity building in policing across the country. Amrutha’s appointment is expected to enhance policy development and institutional strengthening in the organisation.
Strengthening Central Police Leadership
Both appointments reflect the government’s continued effort to bring experienced IPS officers from state cadres into central organisations. Such deputations not only diversify officers’ exposure but also reinforce coordination across India’s security and policing architecture.
