Raipur: The sixth convocation of Atal Bihari Vajpayee University was held today under the chief patronage of former President Mr Ram Nath Kovind. The ceremony, presided over by Governor Mr Ramen Deka, was attended by Chief Minister Mr Vishnu Dev Sai, Deputy Chief Minister Mr Arun Saw, and Higher Education Minister Mr Tankaram Verma. University Vice Chancellor Acharya Dr. Diwakar Nath Vajpayee and other dignitaries were also present.
During the ceremony, the university awarded 64 research degrees, 92 gold medals, and 36,950 graduate and postgraduate degrees, marking a significant milestone for the institution.
Key Messages from the Dignitaries
Former President Mr Ram Nath Kovind congratulated the graduates and emphasized the importance of continuous learning, skill development, and self-growth. He urged students to actively contribute to nation-building, remain connected to Indian culture and values, and embrace heritage practices like yoga and science. Highlighting the rising achievements of female students, he said, “Never think you’re left behind. If you don’t give up, you can always be first.”

Governor Mr Ramen Deka encouraged students to face challenges with courage, resilience, and discipline. He stressed the importance of mental health, advising students to integrate yoga, meditation, and regular physical activity into daily life.
Chief Minister Mr Vishnu Dev Sai highlighted that success is not solely measured by a degree but by a desire to learn, innovate, and remain rooted in culture. He emphasized the importance of discipline, dedication, and a positive attitude in shaping India’s future. Dr. Sai also praised the university’s initiatives under the National Education Policy 2020, including multidisciplinary studies, skill-based learning, four-year undergraduate programs, and digitized academic services.
Deputy Chief Minister Shri Arun Saw and Higher Education Minister Shri Tankaram Verma lauded the university’s contributions to quality higher education and innovation. Minister Verma mentioned that development projects worth ₹20 crore have been approved to enhance infrastructure, including smart classrooms, modern laboratories, and digital libraries.
