BHOPAL— In a landmark decision aimed at urban women’s empowerment, the Madhya Pradesh government, under Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, has announced that 1.30 crore Ladli Behna Yojana beneficiaries in urban areas will now be eligible for housing assistance, in addition to the monthly financial support they already receive.

This decision was made during a high-level review meeting of the Urban Development and Housing Department held on Thursday at Samatva Bhavan, where CM Yadav emphasized the need for accelerated urban inclusion under welfare schemes.

Urban Ladli Behnas to Get Permanent Homes

Officials confirmed during the meeting that 1.30 crore women enrolled under the Ladli Behna Yojana across urban Madhya Pradesh will benefit from housing plus financial assistance.

This move aligns with the state’s broader aim of building slum-free cities and enhancing the standard of living for low-income urban women. It will be linked with housing provisions under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Urban (PMAY-U) framework.

Each urban Ladli Behna will now not only receive financial aid but will also have access to housing—ensuring stability and dignity,” said CM Yadav.

Progress on PMAY-U Housing

  • Phase 1 (PMAY-U 1.0):
Over 8.55 lakh houses have already been completed and handed over to beneficiaries.
  • Phase 2:
The government has received more than 4 lakh new applications, reflecting strong demand and the trust of the public in the scheme.

  • From Diwali 2025, this amount will be raised to ₹1,500, with an eventual goal of reaching ₹3,000/month by 2028.
  • A ₹250 Raksha Bandhan bonus has also been announced for July 2025.
  • The scheme’s annual cost is now projected at ₹22,000+ crore, making it one of the most expansive state-level women’s welfare initiatives in the country.
