Shimla/Dharamshala: SJVN Limited, in collaboration with the Department of Public Enterprises (DPE), is organizing a two-day Orientation Programme on Capacity Building of CMDs and Functional Directors of Central Public Sector Enterprises (CPSEs) in Dharamshala.
The event aims to foster strategic leadership, operational excellence, and inter-organizational collaboration among senior executives of CPSEs.
Inauguration Graced by Eminent Personalities
The inaugural session was presided over by Justice Raghvendra Singh Chauhan, former Chief Justice of the Uttarakhand and Telangana High Courts. Also present were Ajay Kumar Sharma, Director (Personnel), SJVN; Anil Khandelwal, former CMD of Bank of Baroda; and Kranti Kumar, Assistant Director, DPE.
Justice Chauhan spoke about ethical leadership and accountability in public enterprises, stressing the need for agility and innovation in governance practices.
Focus on Leadership, Strategy, and Collaboration
Welcoming the delegates, Ajay Kumar Sharma highlighted the pivotal role of leadership in driving transformation within CPSEs. He emphasized the importance of continuous learning, strategic foresight, and inter-CPSE cooperation for sustainable nation-building.
“Public Sector Enterprises are crucial pillars of India’s economic engine. Capacity building at the leadership level is essential to align with national development goals,” Sharma said.

The programme includes seven interactive sessions spread across two days. Topics cover a wide spectrum of areas relevant to the leadership of CPSEs, including:
- Corporate governance and compliance
- Digital transformation
- Financial sustainability
- Stakeholder engagement
- Strategic HR and leadership development
- Risk management and innovation
- ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) integration
Twenty-two CMDs and Functional Directors from across India are participating in the event, exchanging insights and best practices.
