Leading by Example, IAS Nandini KR Chooses Govt Hospital for Second Child’s Birth Too

Ms. Nandini KR (2016 batch IAS) is serving as the Additional Commissioner of Commercial Taxes in Karnataka
Indian Masterminds Stories

IAS officer Nandini KR delivered her second baby in a government hospital after having delivered her first child in another state-run hospital.

Ms. Nandini KR was an all-India topper of the 2016 UPSC CSE examinations and is currently posted as the Additional Commissioner of Commercial Taxes under the Karnataka Government. She delivered a healthy baby girl in the state-run Vani Vilas Hospital (Bangaluru) on February 17th. She had delivered her first child in Ballari Hospital (state-run) while she was posted as the CEO of a Zilla Panchayat.

Despite having sufficient resources, Ms. Nandini opted to deliver her two children in government hospitals rather than opulent private nursing homes – a testament to her ability to empathise with the struggles (or lack thereof) of an ordinary woman, setting the bar high for every civil servant in the country.
