The Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) has earned a prestigious Guinness World Record for selling the highest number of life insurance policies in a single day. This historic feat was achieved on January 20, 2025, when the corporation’s vast agency network issued a staggering 5,88,107 life insurance policies within 24 hours.
According to a statement released by LIC on Saturday, the record-breaking performance was made possible through the combined efforts of 4,52,839 agents across India. The accomplishment has officially been recognised by Guinness World Records, setting a new global standard for agent productivity in the life insurance sector.
LIC described this achievement as a testament to the unwavering dedication, discipline, and service-driven mindset of its agents. “It is a powerful validation of the relentless dedication, skill, and tireless work ethics of our agents,” the corporation said, highlighting its continued commitment to safeguarding the financial future of millions of Indian families.
The initiative, branded as ‘Mad Million Day’, was the brainchild of LIC’s Managing Director and CEO, Mr. Siddhartha Mohanty. He had urged every agent to contribute by completing at least one policy on that day. Thanking the customers, agents, and staff for their enthusiastic participation, Mr. Mohanty said the achievement marks a historic moment in LIC’s mission to ensure widespread financial inclusion and protection.
