Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), a premier aerospace and defence electronics enterprise under the Ministry of Defence, has appointed Lt. General Vishwambhar Singh (Retd.) as an Independent Director on its Board. The Ministry of Defence approved his nomination as a Non-Official Director through an official order dated April 22, 2025. BEL formalized the appointment via a circular resolution passed on April 23, 2025, with immediate effect.
Lt. Gen. Vishwambhar Singh is a highly decorated Army veteran known for his exemplary service and academic accomplishments. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Architecture with a specialization in City/Urban, Community, and Regional Planning from IIT Roorkee, graduating in 1980. A versatile achiever, he was named Best Sportsman of the University and won the All India Inter-University Rowing Championship in 1979, held in the Ganga Canal.
During his illustrious career in the Indian Army, Lt. Gen. Singh was awarded the Ati Vishisht Seva Medal (AVSM) and the Vishisht Seva Medal (VSM), both conferred in recognition of distinguished and meritorious service.
In addition to his military and academic credentials, he has been serving as an Independent Director on the Board of Projects & Development India Ltd (PDIL) since January 2022, reinforcing his longstanding contribution to public sector leadership and governance.
BEL, headquartered in Bengaluru, operates under the administrative control of the Ministry of Defence. It is one of the sixteen Navratna Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) and is renowned for producing state-of-the-art electronic systems for ground-based and aerospace applications.
