Bhopal: In a significant move aimed at boosting infrastructure, agriculture, and women’s welfare, the Madhya Pradesh Cabinet, under the leadership of Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, approved multiple key initiatives during a meeting held at Mantralaya on Tuesday. The decisions include a massive road connectivity scheme for remote villages, full exemption on market fees for imported tur dal, and the construction of working women’s hostels in four districts.
Rs. 21,630 Crore All-Weather Road Scheme for Remote Habitations
The Cabinet granted in-principle approval for the Chief Minister’s Majra-Tola Road Schemeallocating Rs. 21,630 crore to provide all-weather road connectivity to remote settlements such as Majra, Tola, Dhoni, and Pura. The project will be executed in two phases:
- First Phase (2025-26 to 2029-30);
- Second Phase (2030-31 to 2034-35.
A total of 30,900 km of roadswill be constructed, connecting 20,600 habitations to major road networks. The scheme will be implemented by the Madhya Pradesh Rural Road Development Authoritywith priority given to areas lacking road access within 50 meters.
Eligibility Criteria:
Habitations with a minimum of 20 houses and a population exceeding 100. Priority will be determined based on population, with inputs from local MPs, MLAs, and district officials. Adjustments can be made considering local needs such as security, healthcare, and education.
Full Mandi Fee Exemption on Tur Dal Imports to Stabilize Supply
To address the demand for tur dal in the state, the Cabinet approved a complete waiver of mandi fees on tur imported from outside Madhya Pradesh. This decision is expected to:
- Ensure sufficient availability of tur dal in the market.
- Reduce transportation costs and encourage trade.
- Generate employment in logistics and related sectors.
Four New Working Women’s Hostels Approved Under PPP Model
Under the Special Assistance to States for Capital Investment (SASCI) 2024-25 scheme, the Cabinet approved the construction of four working women’s hostels with a combined capacity of 350 seats in Jhabua, Singrauli, Dewas, and Narmadapuram.
The project, to be developed in Public-Private Partnership (PPP) modewill involve an expenditure of Rs. 40.59 croreproviding safe and affordable accommodation for working women.
In line with the 2025-26 Budget announcementthe Cabinet approved the formation of District Development Advisory Committeesin all districts, chaired by the Chief Minister.
Committee Composition:
- Vice Chairman Minister in-charge of the district.
- Members: MPs, MLAs, Mayors, Zila Panchayat Presidents, and representatives from industries, agriculture, social work, and law (20 members per district).
- Member Secretary: District Collector.
Key Responsibilities include:
Formulate long-term development plans tailored to district-specific needs.
- Promote local skills and products under the “Vocal for Local” initiative.
- Improve implementation of government schemes by incorporating grassroots feedback
- Focus on employment generation, water conservation, agriculture, and industrial growth.
Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav stated that these decisions align with the state’s vision of “balanced and inclusive growth.” He emphasized that the road connectivity scheme will bridge rural-urban gaps, while the tur dal exemption and women’s hostels will strengthen livelihoods and safety.
With these approvals, Madhya Pradesh is set to witness enhanced infrastructure, better market access for farmers, and improved facilities for working women reinforcing its commitment to sustainable development.
