CM Dr. Mohan Yadav on Friday inaugurated the Kumbhraj Major Irrigation Project worth Rs. 5,138 crore in Binaganj, part of the Chachaura assembly constituency in Guna district, Madhya Pradesh. The project, a part of the ambitious Parvati-Kalisindh-Chambal (PKC) River Linking Project, aims to bring perennial irrigation to over 30,000 hectares of farmland in Guna.

Addressing a public gathering, Dr. Yadav reiterated the state’s commitment to ensuring no village or farm remains water-deficient. He stated, “Although Madhya Pradesh has no glaciers, it is the land of rivers, forests, and water resources. We have initiated three major river-linking projects to transform water access across the state. The PKC project is one of them, and it will change the face of Guna district.”
604 Development Projects Worth Rs. 175.76 Crore Launched
During the event, the Chief Minister also inaugurated and performed bhoomi pujan for 604 development works worth Rs. 175.76 crore, covering diverse sectors for the holistic development of the district.
Dr. Yadav personally announced financial aid and welfare packages, including:
- Rs. 4 lakh for liver transplant of Mr. Rajesh Khandelwal’s daughter.
- Rs. 1 lakh for Mrs. Mamta Vishwakarma.
- Rs. 12 lakh for the development of a cowshed in Binaganj.
- He also distributed benefits under schemes like Ladli Laxmi Yojana, State Rural Livelihood Mission, and released a guidebook on tourist destinations in Chachaura.
PKC to Irrigate 6 Lakh Hectares and Benefit 40 Lakh People
Water Resources Minister Mr. Tulsiram Silawat called the Rs. 72,000 crore PKC project an “unimaginable feat” that will irrigate 6 lakh hectares and benefit over 40 lakh people in 13 districts of Chambal and Malwa. He emphasized that under the BJP government, Madhya Pradesh has increased its irrigated area from 7 lakh hectares to 55 lakh hectares.
Silawat also outlined two other key projects:
- Ken-Betwa Link Project (Rs. 44,605 crore): Will irrigate 1.11 lakh hectares and provide drinking water to 44 lakh people.
- Tapi Mega Recharge Project (Rs. 19,000 crore): The world’s first groundwater recharge project will benefit Khandwa and Burhanpur districts.
Social Welfare and Employment Incentives Announced
Dr. Yadav announced a series of new welfare measures:
- Rs. 250 Sawan Shagun for sisters.
- Rs. 1,500/month from Diwali for Ladli Sisters.
- Rs. 14,000 wage incentive for women working in factories.
- Rs. 5,000 employment incentive for youth joining factories.
- Farmers will now get Rs. 12,000/year under PM Kisan Samman Nidhi, jointly funded by Centre and State.
- Solar-powered irrigation pumps to reduce electricity dependency.
- Air ambulance services for critical patients.
- Rahveer Yojana to provide Rs. 25,000 reward for helping road accident victims.
- Grants to cow keepers increased from Rs. 20 to Rs. 40 per cow.
PM Modi’s Vision and Legacy
Dr. Yadav credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi for guiding the state towards inclusive growth. “PM Modi has built homes for 4 crore poor despite not owning a house himself,” he remarked, highlighting achievements under Ayushman Bharat, free ration schemes, and rural employment programs.

The event also saw addresses from Guna District In-charge Minister Mr. Govind Singh Rajput and Chachaura MLA Ms. Priyanka Meena, who praised the CM and PM for bringing India’s largest river interlinking project to fruition in Madhya Pradesh. Ms. Meena noted that four districts will benefit from the Rs. 5,000 crore Kumbhraj Irrigation Project, which will not only support agriculture but also foster industrial growth.
