Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav announced on Thursday, December 11, 2025, that the state has officially become completely free from Naxal violence, calling it a “golden chapter” in the state’s history. The announcement followed the surrender of the last two active Naxals in Balaghat district — Deepak Uike and Rohit — in a virtual ceremony attended by the Chief Minister.
CM Yadav credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah for their leadership and guidance in making the state Naxal-free, emphasising that the nation remains secure under their direction.
Final Naxals Surrendered After Coordinated Efforts

- Combined bounty on these Naxals was Rs 7.75 crore
- In 2025 alone, 10 Naxals were neutralised and 13 surrendered, the highest in the past 21 years
IG of Balaghat Range, Sanjay Kumar Singh, said that Balaghat district is now officially Naxal-free and assured that operations would continue to maintain the area’s security.
Police Sacrifices Honoured
CM Yadav paid tribute to the 38 police officers and personnel who sacrificed their lives in the Naxal elimination campaign. He acknowledged their courage and dedication as pivotal to achieving the Naxal-free status.
He stated, “Owing to the indomitable courage and sacrifices of our police personnel, the final farewell to ‘Lal Salaam’ was given in Balaghat on December 11.”
Surrender Policy and Rehabilitation Initiatives
The Chief Minister reaffirmed that Naxals who surrender will be rehabilitated under the state’s Surrender Policy, providing opportunities for a peaceful reintegration into society. The government is committed to ensuring their safety and supporting them with all provisions mandated under the policy.
Coordination Between Forces Led to Historic Success
The complete elimination of Naxal activity was achieved through coordinated efforts between the Central Armed Forces and Madhya Pradesh Police, along with efficient field-level administration.
