Bhopal: In a significant development for Madhya Pradesh‘s State Police Service, five officers are set to be promoted to the Indian Police Service (IPS). A total of 15 officers from the 1997–98 batch are under consideration, and their names have been sent to the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) for final selection.
The Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC) is scheduled to convene on September 12, where a final decision will be made.

Two Officers’ Names Under Scrutiny
Despite being the senior-most in the list, the promotion of Sitaram Sasatya and Amrit Meena faces hurdles:
- Sitaram Sasatya: A departmental inquiry is ongoing, which may impact his eligibility.
- Amrit Meena: Involved in a pending caste certificate case, currently under judicial consideration.
Their inclusion in the final list will depend on the outcome of the DPC’s legal and administrative evaluation.
What Happens Next?
Once the DPC concludes, the names of the selected five officers will be forwarded by UPSC to the Ministry of Home Affairs for formal notification. This promotion process is part of regular IPS quota induction from state police services to fill vacancies and maintain the strength of the All India Services.
