Narmadapuram: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav distributed funds worth over ₹1,836 crore to more than 1.25 crore women under the state’s flagship Laadli Behna Scheme. In addition, more than 29 lakh women received over ₹90 crore for gas cylinder refills during a program held at Makhan Nagar, Narmadapuram district.
The event also marked the foundation-laying and inauguration of development projects worth over ₹206 crore, covering infrastructure, education, and civic amenities in the region.
Direct Cash Transfers to Empower Women
Addressing the gathering, CM Dr. Yadav said that direct transfers of ₹1,836 crore were credited to the accounts of over 1.25 crore women under the Laadli Behna Scheme. “So far, more than ₹50,000 crore have been transferred to women’s accounts through this program. Our mission is to ensure that women become self-reliant, empowered, and respected,” he added.
The Chief Minister emphasized that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the state government is continuously working on holistic development, making Madhya Pradesh the first state in India to implement mission-mode programs focusing on the empowerment of the poor, youth, farmers, and women (Jeevayan initiative).
Promoting Women Entrepreneurship
Highlighting local entrepreneurship, Dr. Yadav mentioned the Mulberry silk industry in Narmadapuram, which has created 50 women millionaires through silk thread production. He stressed the government’s commitment to link agriculture, employment, and industry, declaring 2026 as the “Year of Farmer Welfare”, and said that women will be trained and integrated into self-help groups to boost financial independence.
Farmers are also being supported to get fair prices for wheat, paddy, and pulses, reflecting the state’s efforts toward inclusive economic development.
Major Announcements in Makhan Nagar
During the event, CM Yadav announced several key development initiatives in Makhan Nagar, including:
- Construction of new irrigation projects
- Bridge development and four-lane roads
- New classrooms at Makhanlal Chaturvedi College
- Construction of SDM office and Tehsil buildings
- New Fire Brigade facility
These projects are expected to strengthen civic infrastructure and improve public services in the district.
Inauguration of Makhan Nagar Rest House
In a special highlight, CM Dr. Mohan Yadav inaugurated a new rest house built by the Public Works Department at a cost of ₹1.3794 crore in Makhan Nagar. This facility aims to serve as a modern amenity for visitors and officials, enhancing the district’s infrastructure.
Focus on Women Empowerment and State Development
Through the Laadli Behna Scheme and other initiatives, the Madhya Pradesh government is making significant strides in women empowerment, rural development, and livelihood promotion. The combined focus on direct financial support, entrepreneurship, training, and infrastructure development reflects the state’s commitment to creating a self-reliant and progressive society.
