A major administrative reshuffle is expected in Madhya Pradesh in the coming days, with the state government preparing to transfer several collectors and superintendents of police across multiple districts. Sources indicate that discussions regarding the changes have already taken place between Chief Minister Mohan Yadav and Chief Secretary Anurag Jain.
The reshuffle is likely to involve a large number of IAS and IPS officers, with new responsibilities being assigned at both the district and secretariat levels.
Collectors in Around 18 Districts May Be Replaced
According to sources, the government is planning to change collectors in nearly 18 districts during the first phase of the reshuffle. Major districts, including Bhopal, may see new appointments.
There is speculation that current Bhopal Collector Vikram Kaushalendra Singh could be given a larger role in the administration. In his place, officers such as Priyank Mishra or a woman IAS officer may be considered for the post. Discussions are also underway about appointing a woman Collector in charge of a major city.
The government is reportedly considering sending some officers currently working at Vallabh Bhavan back to field postings.
Secretarial Roles May Be Given to Senior Collectors
Several collectors are also expected to receive important responsibilities in the ministry or secretariat. Administrative circles suggest that officers currently serving in districts such as Narmadapuram, Betul, Gwalior, Shivpuri, Rewa, Indore, Umaria and Maihar may be moved to the secretariat.
These postings are expected to be based on the officers’ experience, performance and administrative style.
Changes Possible in the Chief Minister’s Office
The reshuffle may not be limited to district administration alone. Sources say that changes are also being considered within the Chief Minister’s Office.
One of the current secretaries in the CMO could be shifted, while a new secretary may be brought in. There is also a possibility of changes at the level of additional chief secretary and principal secretary, which may help improve coordination and bring a new work approach at the top level of the administration.
Major Shake-Up in Police Department Too
The police department is also expected to witness a major reshuffle. Around 20 district SPs may be transferred in the coming weeks.
Districts such as Khargone, Bhind, Dhar, Rewa and Jhabua are among those where changes are likely.
In addition, nine officers, including two Railway SPs who have already been promoted but continue to serve as district SPs, are likely to be given fresh assignments.
Performance to Remain Key Factor
Sources suggest that the government is placing strong emphasis on performance while deciding the transfers. Officers with strong records may be assigned to more important districts, while others could be moved to less significant roles.
Chief Minister Mohan Yadav is said to be focused on strengthening governance by placing efficient and result-oriented officers in key districts. The aim is to ensure quicker implementation of government schemes and improve coordination between administration and the public.
