Vidisha: Madhya Pradesh received a major infrastructure boost as Union Minister for Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, laid the foundation stone for a road project worth Rs 4,400 crore in Vidisha district. The event was attended by Chief Minister Mohan Yadav and other dignitaries, including the Union Minister for Agriculture.
Grand Road Show and Warm Reception
Minister Gadkari arrived in Vidisha around 1 PM on Friday and was greeted with a grand road show. The procession started from Bada Bazaar and proceeded to the old agricultural produce market, drawing large crowds who enthusiastically welcomed the Union Minister. The event highlighted the public’s excitement and support for the upcoming infrastructure projects.
Multiple Highway Projects and Training Centers
During the program, 8 national highway projects and 3 driving training centers with a combined cost of over Rs 4,400 crore were inaugurated or had their foundation stones laid. These projects aim to improve connectivity across Bhopal, Vidisha, Sagar, Rahatgarh, Byawara, and other industrial, agricultural, and tourist hubs in the state, making transportation smoother and more efficient.
Some of the other major projects mentioned by Gadkari include:
- Gwalior-Bhopal-Nagpur new highway: Rs 40,000 crore, 650 km
- Kota-Vidisha-Sagar Greenfield Highway: Rs 16,000 crore
- Nasrullaganj-Rehti-Budhni 4-lane road: Rs 1,000 crore approved
Gadkari Highlights Technology and Environmental Initiatives
Addressing the crowd, Minister Gadkari emphasized the use of technology in road construction while ensuring environmental protection. He shared examples of innovative revenue models, including water recycling projects in Nagpur generating Rs 300 crore. Gadkari stressed the importance of developing not only smart cities but also smart villages and highlighted that agriculture-based fuels could significantly boost farmers’ incomes in the future. He also noted that India exports 50 lakh tons of bitumen annually, demonstrating the growing infrastructure potential of the country.
Chief Minister Mohan Yadav Addresses Public
Chief Minister Mohan Yadav thanked the Union Minister for his support and highlighted the state government’s development agenda. Speaking to the public, he announced that a medical college will soon be established in Raisen district. He also criticized the Congress party, claiming that it has created a “record of sitting at home for the third time,” and emphasized that the people stand with those who work for development.

These initiatives reflect the state and central government’s continued focus on strengthening Madhya Pradesh’s infrastructure, improving connectivity, and facilitating industrial, agricultural, and tourism growth.
