Jharsuguda/Dhenkanal: On the occasion of World Environment Day 2025, Mahanadi Coalfields Ltd (MCL), a subsidiary of Coal India Ltd, signed three key Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with the district administrations of Jharsuguda and Dhenkanal. The agreements aim to rejuvenate natural water bodies, improve groundwater recharge, and develop eco-parks, with a total investment of ₹18 crore under MCL’s CSR initiative.

The signing took place in the presence of Shri Keshav Rao, Director (HR), and other functional directors of MCL.

‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam 2.0’ Campaign Launched

MCL also launched ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam 2.0’, a green initiative symbolising the company’s commitment to sustainability and community welfare. CMD Uday Anant Kaole inaugurated the campaign by planting a sapling, alongside senior officers including Director (HR) Keshav Rao, CVO PK Patel, and Directors JK Borah, AK Behura, and Sanjay Jha.

The initiative aims to plant and distribute 1.5 lakh saplings, complementing regular afforestation efforts across its operational districts.

Weeklong WED Activities Across Operational Areas

From May 31 to June 5, MCL organised a series of environment-themed competitions and awareness activities-

  • Painting, quiz, and ‘Best out of Waste’ contests
  • Participation from employees, spouses, children, SHGs, and local communities
  • Clean-up drives, nukkad nataks, cycle rallies, and webinars
  • Themes: “One Nation, One Mission: End Plastic Pollution” and “Mission LiFE”

CIL Chairman’s Message & Environmental Pledge

CMD Kaole unfurled the Environment Flag and administered an environmental pledge, reinforcing the shared responsibility of preserving natural ecosystems. Director Sanjay Jha read out a message from Coal India’s Chairman, emphasizing individual commitment to sustainability.
