Mr. Sanjay L Yadav, a 2009-batch IAS officer of the Maharashtra cadre, has been transferred from his current position as District Collector, Mumbai. He has now been appointed as the State Project Director, Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan, Mumbai.

This transfer marks a significant shift in his responsibilities, as he takes charge of overseeing the implementation of the Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan, a flagship program aimed at improving school education across Maharashtra.
Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) is a flagship program of the Government of India aimed at enhancing school education from pre-primary to senior secondary levels. Launched in 2018, it integrates three major education schemes—Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA), Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan (RMSA), and Teacher Education (TE)—to ensure inclusive and equitable quality education for all. The initiative focuses on infrastructure development, digital learning, teacher training, and bridging learning gaps, especially for marginalized communities. By emphasizing a holistic approach, Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan seeks to strengthen foundational literacy, promote skill-based education, and align with the objectives of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
