Surguja: Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai inaugurated the three-day Mainpat Mahotsav at Ropkhar, Surguja, celebrating the region’s rich culture and heritage. During the event, he announced development projects worth ₹523 crore, including tourism initiatives and infrastructure upgrades.
Mainpat Mahotsav: Showcasing Culture and Talent
CM Sai highlighted that the Mainpat Mahotsav serves as a platform to showcase Surguja’s culture and identity to the country and the world. The festival provides opportunities for both local and visiting artists to display their talents on a larger stage.
He said, “Over the years, the festival has grown in scale and grandeur. The government is committed to making this event even more spectacular annually, with proper planning and support.”
Major Development Announcements
During the inauguration, CM Sai announced:
- Tourism development in Mainpat with ₹1 crore allocated for projects.
- Construction of a modern, fully-equipped bus stand in Sitapur to enhance connectivity.
- Completion and inauguration of 109 development projects worth ₹523.20 crore, including:
- 81 projects (₹429.11 crore) for groundbreaking.
- 28 projects (₹94.09 crore) for completion and inauguration.
- 81 projects (₹429.11 crore) for groundbreaking.
- New administrative building in Mainpat built at a cost of ₹8 crore.

Strengthening Surguja’s Economy and Industry
CM Sai praised Chhattisgarh’s new industrial policy, noting that it has received national and international recognition. He revealed that investment proposals worth over ₹8 lakh crore have been submitted under the policy.
He also lauded the efforts of security forces in making Bastar and surrounding areas Naxal-free, emphasizing that development and safety now go hand-in-hand in the region.
Tourism Potential of Mainpat
Renowned Bhojpuri singer and BJP MP Manoj Tiwari, who attended the festival, called Mainpat “Chhattisgarh’s Shimla” and highlighted its tourism potential. He said, “Mainpat has the capacity to surpass Shimla as a top tourist destination. CM Sai has a great vision for Surguja, and the Modi government is ready to support all aspirations of Chhattisgarh.”
