The Appointments Committee of Cabinet has lately orchestrated a major reshuffle of the Union Secretaries. The newly designated secretaries are:
- Mr. Subrata Gupta (1990-batch West Bengal cadre IAS officer) has been appointed as Secretary in the Ministry of Food Processing Industries replacing Ms. Anita Praveen (1989-batch Tamil Nadu cadre IAS officer) upon her superannuation on 30th November.
- Mr. S Gopalakrishnan (1991-batch Tamil Nadu cadre IAS officer), the incumbent DG of the National Productivity Council (NPC) under the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), was appointed the Chairman of the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) in the rank and pay of Secretary to the Government of India. Officer Krishnan replaces IAS Rakesh Ranjan (1992-batch Manipur cadre) who took VRS w.e.f. 31st October.
- Mr. Puneet Kumar Goel (1991-batch AGMUT cadre IAS officer), the present Chief Secretary of Goa, has been appointed as the Secretary of the National Commission for Scheduled Tribes (NCST) in the rank and pay of Secretary to the Government of India.
- IAS V Umashankar (1993-batch Haryana cadre officer) was appointed as Secretary of the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways replacing IAS Anurag Jain (1989-batch Madhya Pradesh cadre officer).
- Mr. Tanmay Kumar (1993-batch Rajasthan cadre IAS officer), the incumbent Special Secretary in MoEF & CC, has been appointed as the Special Secretary in the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF & CC) replacing Ms. Leena Nandan (1987-batch Uttar Pradesh cadre IAS officer) upon her superannuation on 31st December.
- Mr. Vikram Dev Dutt (1993-batch AGMUT cadre IAS officer), last posted as DG in the Directorate General of Civil Aviation, was appointed Secretary in the Ministry of Coal.
- Mr. Surendra Kumar Bagde (1993-batch Maharashtra cadre IAS officer) was appointed as DG of the National Centre for Good Governance in the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances. Officer Bagde was last posted as an Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs (MoHUA).
- Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Ms. Neerja Sekhar (1993-batch Haryana cadre IAS officer) was promoted (In-situ) as the Special Secretary.
