In a major reshuffling within the Bihar Police, the state’s Home Department has transferred 62 Indian Police Service (IPS) officers, including 13 district Superintendents of Police (SPs). The transfers include high-profile changes in key positions, as well as significant shifts in leadership roles within the police force. Two DIGs have been promoted as IGs, eight SSPs have been promoted as DIGs and three SPs have been elevated at SSPs.
The 2012-batch IPS Avkash Kumar has been appointed the new Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) of Patna. He has been shifted from the post of SP CID. Dr Inamul Haque Megnu had been made SP Arwal and Upendra Nath Verma is new SP of Banka. Other new SPs are — Yogendra Kumar (Madhubani), Hari Mohan Shukla (Kaimur), Lalit Mohan Sharma (Vaishali), Prerna Kumari (Navgachhia), Amit Ranjan (Sitamarhi), Madan Kumar Anand (Jamui) and Anjani Kumar (Araria).
SSP Bhagalpur Anand Kumar had been transferred in the same position to Gaya. Hriday Kant has been posted as SSP Bhagalpur. SP Madhubani Sushil Kumar had been elevated to the post of SSP Muzaffarpur.
Vishwajit Dayal (SP City Muzaffarpur), Alok (SP Rural Darbhanga), Shubhrank Mishra (SP City Bhagalpur), K Ramdas (SP East Patna), Vikram Sihag (SP Rural Patna), Ramanand Kumar Kaushal (SP City Gaya) and Sanjay Kumar (SP Law & Order, Patna) are other notable appointees.
Additionally, Kundan Krishnan has been handed the additional charge of the Special Task Force (STF), a role that will involve overseeing operations against organized crime, terrorism, and other high-priority security threats in the state.
Amit Kumar Jain has been appointed as the Additional Director General of Police for Vulnerable Classes. This position will focus on ensuring the security and rights of marginalized and vulnerable groups in Bihar. Amit Raj has been appointed as the Additional Director General of Police for Security in Bihar, overseeing security protocols across the state with his base in Patna.
The Anti-Terrorism System has also seen a leadership change with IPS Shalini being appointed as the new Inspector General of Police (IGP). In addition to her role in anti-terrorism efforts, Shalini will also take on the additional responsibility as IGP of Security, enhancing the coordination between different wings of the police force.

- Mr. Amit Kumar Jain (1996-batch IPS officer) has been posted as Additional Director General of Police (ADGP), Weaker Sections.
- Mr. Amit Raj is now the ADGP (Security), Bihar, Patna.
- Ms. Shalini Singh (1996-batch IPS officer) has been posted as Inspector General of Police (IGP), Counter-Terrorism Arrangements, with an additional charge as IGP (Security), Bihar, Patna.
- Mr. Rakesh Rathi (2003-batch IPS officer) has taken charge as IGP, Purnia Region, and will also oversee the Technical Services, Communication, and Economic Offenders Wing.
- Mr. Rajesh Kumar (2003-batch IPS officer) has been appointed as IGP, Bihar Human Rights Commission, Patna.

- Mr. Vinay Kumar (1991-batch IPS officer) has moved from IGP Headquarters, Patna, to IGP (Operations), STF, Bihar, Patna.
- Mr. P. Kannan has been transferred to the post of IGP, Railways, Bihar, Patna, from his previous role as IGP, Crime Research.
- Mr. Daljit Singh (2007-batch IPS officer) has been shifted from DIG (Robbery) to IGP, Crime Investigation Department, Patna.
- Mr. Ranjit Kumar (2007-batch IPS officer) is now IGP, Bihar Special Arms Police, Patna.
Deputy Inspector General (DIG) and Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Transfers:
- Mr. Sanjay Kumar (1997-batch IPS officer) has been transferred from Munger to DIG, Economic Offenders, Patna.
- Mr. Vikas Kumar (2020-batch IPS officer) has been reassigned from DSP Begusarai to DSP, Bihar, Patna.
- Mr. Navin Chandra Jha (2009-batch IPS officer) has been posted as DSP, Surveillance Investigation Bureau, Patna.
- Mr. Baburam (2009-batch IPS officer) is now DSP, Crime Investigation Department, Bihar, Patna, after his tenure as DSP Personnel Bihar, Patna.
