Gandhinagar: In a major step toward strengthening healthcare delivery in Gujarat’s remote tribal belts, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel flagged off a fleet of mobile medical vans from Ahmedabad today. The initiative is a joint effort of the Indian Red Cross Society, Gujarat State Branch, and the REC Foundation, Delhi, launched as part of the 150th birth anniversary celebrations of tribal freedom fighter Bhagwan Birsa Munda.
Delivering Healthcare to Tribal Doorsteps
This new initiative aims to fulfil the long-standing goal of bringing medical care directly to tribal households, especially in underserved areas such as Dang, Dahod, Sabarkantha, and Aravalli districts. Each mobile medical van is fully equipped with modern healthcare facilities and a trained team comprising a doctor, nurse, pharmacist, and driver.
The vans will provide free medical check-ups, essential medicines, and basic treatments, reaching over 10,000 tribal residents per month, with the capacity to serve more than 100 patients daily.
