New Delhi: The Mineral Exploration & Consultancy Limited (MECL) has initiated exploratory drilling operations for bauxite and associated minerals in the Dhrang Block of Kutch District, Gujarat, as part of the ongoing Baghewala Project. This exploration falls under the broader framework of NMET-funded mineral assessment initiatives, aimed at boosting India’s resource mapping and strategic mineral development.

The exploratory work, which commenced today, marks a significant step in evaluating the bauxite potential of the region. Bauxite, a critical raw material for the aluminium industry, holds substantial economic importance. The project will also help identify any co-existing mineral resources, contributing to a more holistic understanding of the mineral wealth in the Kutch region.

Officials stated that systematic drilling and sampling will be conducted as per geological standards, and the data generated will support future resource estimation, investment decisions, and sustainable mineral development strategies for the state.
