MGL Conducts Major Mock Drill at Taloja City Gate Station to Strengthen CNG Leak and Fire Emergency Response

Mumbai: In a proactive step to reinforce emergency preparedness and ensure regulatory compliance, Mahanagar Gas Limited (MGL), a public sector undertaking, successfully conducted a comprehensive mock drill on October 7, 2025, at its City Gate Station (CGS) located at Taloja CNG RO.

The exercise simulated a gas leakage leading to a fire in a CNG Transport Vehicle (CTV) during the filling process, including impact on the associated piping system. The drill was conducted on-ground to assess the response time, coordination, and effectiveness of emergency actions taken by the team.

Multi-Agency Coordination and Real-Time Simulation

The mock drill witnessed active participation from several key agencies, including:

  • Taloja Fire Brigade
  • Police and Traffic Police
  • Mutual Aid Response Group (MARG)
  • District Disaster Management Cell (Raigad)
  • Taloja Manufacturers’ Association
  • Directorate of Industrial Safety and Health (DISH)
  • GAIL authorities

Each agency executed its respective role, demonstrating strong coordination and real-time decision-making under simulated crisis conditions.

Stakeholder Feedback and Observations

Following the drill, representatives from the Fire Brigade, Police, and MARG provided constructive feedback and shared insights on areas for further improvement. A senior official from the District Disaster Management Cell was also present at the site to witness the exercise firsthand.

The mock drill served as a critical platform for inter-agency collaboration and continuous learning. The swift and structured response by MGL’s on-site team was widely appreciated by all participating authorities, highlighting the company’s commitment to safety and operational excellence.
