New Delhi: In a major move aimed at optimizing government office infrastructure and improving administrative efficiency, the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) has approved the relocation of six major central ministries from their decades-old premises in Udyog Bhawan and Shastri Bhawan to the newly built General Pool Office Accommodation (GPOA) Block-3, Netaji Nagar, New Delhi.
According to the Office Memorandum (No. D-11011/78/2019 (E 9119420)) issued by the Directorate of Estates, Office and Market Section, the ministries being relocated include:
- Ministry of Commerce

- Ministry of Textiles
These ministries, previously functioning from Udyog Bhawan and Shastri Bhawan, will now operate from their newly allotted offices in GPOA Block-03, Netaji Nagar.

The Office Memorandum provides a detailed allocation of floors and zones for each ministry within the new complex –

Facilitation for Smooth Transition
To ensure the smooth relocation of the ministries, a facilitation desk has been established by the Central Public Works Department (CPWD) on the ground floor of GPOA Block-3, Netaji Nagar.
CPWD will assist the ministries with –
- Inventory management
- Service functionalities
- Familiarisation with office spaces and facilities
- Security and safety briefings
- Movement and parking plans
Additionally, each ministry has been directed to appoint nodal officers to coordinate with the facilitation desk for the seamless shifting of offices.
Modern Infrastructure and Efficient Space Use
The relocation to GPOA Block-3 is part of the government’s broader plan to redevelop old central government accommodations into modern, energy-efficient office complexes.
The new facility at Netaji Nagar has been designed to house multiple ministries under one roof with upgraded amenities, improved workspace efficiency, and better connectivity.
Officials believe this move will decongest central Delhi’s administrative hub and support the Central Vista redevelopment vision by enabling the phased relocation of ministries to newer, smarter office complexes.
