The Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, is gearing up to make the Maha Kumbh 2025 a historic event, blending spirituality with global tourism appeal. Scheduled to take place in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, from January 13 to February 26, 2025, this Poorna Kumbh Mela is expected to attract millions of pilgrims, tourists, and devotees worldwide, offering a platform to showcase India’s rich cultural and spiritual heritage.

Key Initiatives by the Ministry of Tourism

  • Incredible India Pavilion: A 5,000 sq. ft. Incredible India Pavilion will be set up at the Maha Kumbh, designed to provide an immersive experience for international tourists, scholars, photographers, journalists, and the Indian diaspora. It will highlight the cultural and spiritual significance of the Kumbh Mela and include a Dekho Apna Desh People’s Choice Poll, where visitors can vote for their favourite Indian tourism destinations.
  • Dedicated Tourist Infoline: To assist foreign and domestic tourists, a toll-free Tourist Infoline (1800111363 or 1363) is operational in 10 international languages and multiple Indian languages, including Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Bengali, Assamese, and Marathi. This service will provide real-time information and support to ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience.
  • Social Media Campaigns: A robust social media campaign with hashtags like #Mahakumbh2025 and #SpiritualPrayagraj has been launched to generate global excitement. Social media contests, collaborative posts, and partnerships with organizations like ITDC and UP Tourism will amplify visibility, encouraging participation and engagement.
  • Luxury Accommodation and Tour Packages: Collaborations with stakeholders like UP State Tourism Development Corporation (UPSTDC), IRCTC, and ITDC have resulted in curated tour packages and luxury accommodations. Tent City: ITDC has established 80 luxury tents at Tent City, Prayagraj. IRCTC also offers luxury tent options to accommodate the influx of visitors. A digital brochure detailing these packages has been shared with Indian Missions and Tourism Offices worldwide.
  • Enhanced Air Connectivity: In partnership with Alliance Air, air connectivity to Prayagraj has been expanded, ensuring seamless travel for both domestic and international attendees.
  • Capturing the Grandeur: A large-scale photoshoot and videography project will document the spiritual and cultural magnificence of the Maha Kumbh. These visuals will be distributed across international and national media platforms, positioning Prayagraj as a premier spiritual tourism destination.

A Catalyst for Tourism and Spirituality

The Maha Kumbh 2025 is not just a religious congregation but also a global event that underscores India’s commitment to promoting its cultural and spiritual heritage. With these initiatives, the Ministry of Tourism aims to make Prayagraj a beacon of spirituality and a must-visit destination for travellers worldwide.
