Nagpur: Hon’ble Minister of State for Coal & Mines Mr. Satish Chandra Dubey visited the Western Coalfields Limited (WCL) headquarters in Nagpur today, inaugurating several key initiatives aimed at strengthening operational efficiency, employee welfare, and security infrastructure.
E-Vehicle Fast Charging Station and ICCC e-Surveillance Centre Launched
The visit began with the inauguration of WCL’s new E-Vehicle Fast Electric Charging Station at its headquarters, marking a step towards promoting sustainable energy practices in coal operations. Following this, the Minister inspected the Integrated Command and Control Centre (ICCC) for e-surveillance, which will enhance monitoring and security of WCL operations.

Amrit Pharmacy and WCL Website Unveiled
During the visit, Mr. Dubey also inaugurated the Amrit Pharmacy at Chandrapur Area, a facility set up to provide high-quality healthcare services to WCL employees and their families. Additionally, WCL’s newly designed website was launched, aimed at improving information accessibility, corporate transparency, and digital engagement with stakeholders.
Review of Coal Production and Operational Performance
The Hon’ble Minister chaired a review meeting to assess WCL’s performance in coal production, productivity, and dispatch. WCL Chairman-cum-Managing Director Mr. J.P. Dwivedi presented a comprehensive overview of ongoing operations, new projects, welfare initiatives, and corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities. Mr. Dubey emphasized the critical importance of meeting annual coal production targets to cater to the nation’s growing energy requirements. He assured full support from the Ministry of Coal for ongoing mining activities and upcoming projects, underlining WCL’s significant role in making India self-reliant in coal production.
The review meeting was attended by senior officials from both WCL and the Ministry of Coal, including Directors, General Managers, and department heads.
Inauguration of SHASTrA – India’s First PSU Weapons Training Academy
The highlight of the visit was the inauguration of SHASTrA – Small Hybrid Arms Simulator Training Academy – the first-ever weapons training centre established in a Public Sector Undertaking. Located at the Safety Training Centre, Indora, SHASTrA provides state-of-the-art weapons simulation and handling training for WCL’s security personnel. During the inauguration, the Hon’ble Minister reviewed available weaponry, observed handling procedures, and addressed the security staff, urging them to maintain vigilance, skill, and integrity in the discharge of their duties.
