Bhopal: In a landmark event, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav distributed appointment letters to 12,075 newly selected Anganwadi workers and helpers at the State Assembly Hall today. This historic occasion marked the first-ever online, merit-based recruitment process for Anganwadi personnel in the country. During the ceremony, the newly appointed workers and helpers were also given an opportunity to observe the proceedings of the State Assembly.
Historic Online Merit-Based Selection
The Chief Minister highlighted the significance of the occasion, stating that delivering appointment letters from the Assembly—the highest administrative platform—to the frontline workers serving at the grassroots level sets a new precedent. Dr. Yadav emphasized that the selection process was fully transparent and merit-based.
He encouraged the newly appointed personnel to take a pledge against malnutrition, stressing that just as Yashoda Ma nurtured and educated Lord Krishna, Anganwadi workers and helpers must provide education and values to children in their care.
This recruitment marked the first time in India that Anganwadi workers and helpers were selected through an entirely online and transparent process. Out of approximately 4 lakh applications received for around 19,250 vacant positions in the state, 12,075 appointments were finalized. The online system eliminated the risk of lost or misplaced documents, ensured a 100% merit-based selection, and provided mechanisms for claims, objections, and appeals.

Significant Financial and Administrative Impact
The newly appointed Anganwadi personnel will receive a total monthly stipend of nearly ₹14 crore. The recruitment process reflects Madhya Pradesh’s commitment to strengthening grassroots child welfare and development programs through efficiency and transparency.
Assembly and Ministerial Support
The ceremony witnessed the presence of Assembly Speaker Narendra Singh Tomar, who congratulated all appointees and lauded the government for implementing a fully transparent online recruitment system. Women and Child Development Minister Nirmala Bhuria addressed the gathering, while former Minister Archana Chitnis administered an oath to the newly appointed workers and helpers, emphasizing dedication and duty in their roles.
Key officials, including Additional Chief Secretary Neeraj Mandloi and Principal Secretary G.V. Rashmi, were also present. The event concluded with the newly appointed Anganwadi workers presenting a formal letter of felicitation to the Chief Minister.
A New Chapter in Child Development and Grassroots Governance
The historic appointment ceremony underscores Madhya Pradesh’s efforts to strengthen child welfare initiatives, enhance accountability, and empower women working at the grassroots level. By leveraging technology and merit-based recruitment, the state has set a precedent for transparent and efficient government hiring practices nationwide.
