Bhopal: In a significant boost to infrastructure, agriculture, health, and social welfare, the Madhya Pradesh Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, approved development proposals worth approximately ₹19,810 crore during a meeting held at the Mantralaya in Bhopal on Monday.
The decisions cover key sectors including public works, irrigation, agriculture mechanisation, women and child development, medical education, and rural welfare schemes.
Major Infrastructure Push: ₹10,801 Crore for Public Works Department
The Cabinet approved ₹10,801 crore for various ongoing and new projects under the Public Works Department (PWD).
Key allocations include:
- ₹150 crore for BOT road development and supervision
- ₹765 crore for payments after completion of BOT projects
- ₹4,564 crore for annuity-based payments
- ₹5,322 crore for Madhya Pradesh Road Development Corporation projects supported by external assistance
These provisions will also continue under the 16th Finance Commission period (2026–2031), ensuring long-term infrastructure stability and road development across the state.
Irrigation Boost: ₹286 Crore Midwasa Project in Sagar
The Cabinet cleared ₹286.26 crore for the Midwasa Medium Irrigation Project in Sagar district.
The project aims to:
- Provide irrigation to around 7,200 hectares
- Benefit 27 villages in Sagar tehsil
- Improve agricultural productivity and water availability
This initiative is expected to significantly strengthen rural livelihoods in the region.
Strengthening Rural Development: ₹3,553 Crore Approved
Under the Panchayat and Rural Development Department, the government approved ₹3,553.35 crore for the continuation of key welfare programmes from 2026–27 to 2030–31.
This includes:
- Mid-Day Meal Scheme
- Prime Minister Poshan Shakti Nirman
- Other rural welfare initiatives
The funding aims to ensure uninterrupted implementation of essential social development schemes.
Agriculture Modernisation: ₹2,250 Crore for Mechanisation
A major push toward modern farming practices was approved with ₹2,250 crore allocated under the Sub-Mission on Agricultural Mechanisation (SMAM).
The scheme focuses on:
- Promoting farm mechanisation
- Establishing custom hiring centres in rural areas
- Crop residue management
- Subsidies for agricultural tools, especially for forest-right holders
The initiative is designed to reduce labour dependency, improve productivity, and increase rural employment opportunities.
Healthcare Expansion: ₹1,674 Crore for New Medical Colleges
To strengthen medical education and healthcare services, the Cabinet approved ₹1,674 crore for the establishment and continuation of new medical colleges across the state.
Key features:
- Collaboration with the central government
- Integration of district hospitals with medical colleges
- Strengthening healthcare infrastructure over the next five years
Continued Health Support for Bhopal Gas Tragedy Survivors
The Cabinet sanctioned ₹1,005 crore to continue healthcare services under the Bhopal Gas Tragedy Relief and Rehabilitation Department until 2031.
This ensures long-term medical support and rehabilitation services for affected families.
Women and Child Development Initiatives
An allocation of ₹240.42 crore was approved for continuing schemes under the Women and Child Development Department.
Key programmes include:
- Beti Bachao Beti Padhao
- One-Stop Centres
- Women Helpline-181
Additionally, approval was granted for the establishment of 8 new One-Stop Centres in:
- Maihar
- Mauganj
- Pandhurna
- Manawar
- Pithampur (Dhar)
- Lasudia (Indore)
- Sanwer (Indore)
- Petlawad (Jhabua)
These centres aim to provide support services for women in distress.
Focus on Agriculture and Subsidy Support
The Cabinet also highlighted progress in agriculture and allied sectors, noting improvements in milk production and continued support for farmers through fertilizer subsidies for the 2026 Kharif season.
The government acknowledged the central subsidy support of over ₹41,833 crore on phosphatic and potassic fertilizers, aimed at reducing input costs for farmers.
The latest Cabinet decisions reflect a comprehensive development strategy focused on infrastructure expansion, agricultural modernization, healthcare strengthening, and social welfare enhancement.
With multi-sector investments spanning the next five years, the state government aims to accelerate inclusive growth and improve public service delivery across Madhya Pradesh.
