Bhopal: In a significant welfare decision coinciding with Holi, Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav announced a 3% increase in the Dearness Allowance (DA) for state government employees, bringing it to 58%. Pensioners will also benefit from the revised DA, which will be applicable from January–February 2026. The arrears for the period July 2025 to March 2026 will be paid in six equal installments starting May 2026.

This move by the Madhya Pradesh government marks a major step towards employee welfare and aligns state DA with central government rates.

DA Hike Details and Implementation

CM Mohan Yadav shared the announcement via his official X (formerly Twitter) handle:

“On the auspicious occasion of Holi, the Dearness Allowance of state government employees has been increased by 3% to 58%. Employees will receive DA at the same rate as the central government from April 2026 (payable in May). Arrears for July 2025–March 2026 will be disbursed in six equal installments starting May 2026. Pensioners will also get DA at 58% in January–February 2026 pensions. Wishing everyone a Happy Holi!”

Key points of the DA revision include:

  • DA increased from 55% to 58% for all state government employees
  • Arrears from July 2025 to March 2026 will be paid in six equal installments starting May 2026
  • Pensioners will receive 58% DA in January–February 2026 pensions

Government Commitment to Employee Welfare

The decision reflects the Madhya Pradesh government’s commitment to supporting its workforce and retirees. CM Mohan Yadav emphasized that this measure is part of the broader effort to ensure financial security and welfare for all categories of employees.

He highlighted that earlier in the day, during a Cabinet meeting in Barwani under the Kisan Kalyan Varsh (Farmer Welfare Year), the government took several key decisions for state development, followed by this employee-focused welfare announcement in the evening.

Positive Impact on Employees and Pensioners

  • Millions of state employees and pensioners will benefit from increased DA
  • Financial burden due to inflation is reduced, ensuring better living standards
  • Timely payment of arrears will support household incomes
  • Aligning DA with central government fosters equitable remuneration

Holi Gift to Employees and Pensioners

The DA increase, announced on the festival of Holi, is being viewed as a significant gesture of goodwill by the Madhya Pradesh government. CM Mohan Yadav reiterated that the government remains committed to the welfare of all sections of society and will continue to take measures for the betterment of employees, pensioners, and citizens.
