Madhya Pradesh‘s Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav and Union Agriculture Minister Mr. Shivraj Singh Chouhan jointly presided over a major public meeting in Sehore on Wednesday, unveiling development projects worth Rs. 113.45 crore for the district. The programme included dedication of completed works, bhoomi pujan (ground-breaking) of new projects, and disbursement of approval letters to beneficiaries of government welfare schemes such as Sambal, Pension, Divyang Marriage Promotion, and Family Support.
Homage to Sehore’s Indelibe Role In the Revolt of 1857
Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Dr. Yadav announced an additional Rs. 50 crore for developmental initiatives under Sehore Municipality. Recalling Sehore’s historic contribution to the 1857 Freedom Struggle, Dr. Yadav paid homage to the 356 revolutionaries who laid down their lives, equating their sacrifice with that of martyrs at Jallianwala Bagh. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to empowering farmers by ensuring irrigation across the district and promised to enhance the benefits of welfare schemes for women to Rs. 3,000.
Dr. Yadav highlighted that Madhya Pradesh is fast emerging among the top-performing states in the country, with a strong focus on health infrastructure, electricity, road connectivity, and education. He noted that 30 medical colleges are operational in the state, with the number expected to increase to 50 in the next two years. Emphasizing the state’s developmental trajectory, he stated, “With the rising stature of Bhopal as a metropolitan hub, Sehore too will witness rapid urban and rural growth.”
Former CM & Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan’s Message
Union Agriculture Minister Mr. Shivraj Singh Chouhan, who previously served as Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, reiterated his continued commitment to the projects initiated during his tenure. He emphasized that public cooperation is essential for achieving the Prime Minister’s vision of a “Viksit Bharat” (Developed India). “Every citizen must take a pledge to develop their village and contribute to nation-building,” he said.
Mr. Chouhan announced that under the PM Awas Plus Yojana, the central government has approved construction of 3.56 lakh houses in Madhya Pradesh, with a total sanctioned amount of Rs. 9,424 crore. He handed over a letter from Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Dr. Yadav confirming this approval. He also noted that a labour budget of Rs. 6,263 crore has been sanctioned under MNREGA for Madhya Pradesh.
Reiterating the government’s resolve for agricultural transformation, Mr. Chouhan urged the promotion of scientific farming and the empowerment of rural women, stating that the goal is to make “every sister a millionaire Didi.”
