Bhopal/Gwalior: Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav declared a bold new vision for Madhya Pradesh’s Gwalior-Chambal region on Saturday, stating that it will soon emerge as a major centre of industrial, infrastructural, and energy-led growth. At a grand event held at the ISBT campus in Gwalior, the CM inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for development works worth ₹265.56 crore, signaling the start of a new era for the region.
Among the inaugurated projects were the Integrated Inter-State Bus Terminal (ISBT) built at a cost of ₹77 crore, a sports complex for football players, and a 132 KV substation constructed with an investment of ₹112 crore. The Chief Minister also distributed benefits to eligible citizens under various government schemes.

Electricity from Ravines: 2000 MW Solar Project to Light Up MP and UP
Highlighting a unique initiative, Dr. Yadav announced that the ravines of Gwalior-Chambal, once seen as a barrier to development, will soon become an energy hub. A 2000 MW solar power plant is being set up in the ravine regions with the support of the central government. The electricity generated will be jointly consumed by Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh, each receiving power for six months of the year.
“This is no longer the region of neglect; it is the new energy corridor of North India,” the CM said, adding that the project would generate employment and help curb migration from rural areas.
Water Connectivity Boost: River Linking to Benefit Local Farmers
Dr. Yadav also touched on the National River Linking Project, through which Parvati, Kalisindh, and Chambal rivers will be interconnected at an investment of ₹70,000 crore. Additionally, farmers in the region stand to benefit from the Ken-Betwa river project, further ensuring water security and irrigation access.
Industrial Transformation via Agra-Gwalior 6-Lane Highway
With the Agra-Gwalior 6-lane expressway now under construction at a cost of ₹5,000 crore, CM Yadav noted that leading industrialists from Agra and beyond are showing interest in setting up factories in the region. “This highway will reduce travel time to just 45 minutes and make Gwalior a top investment destination in central India,” he said.
Glorious Past, Promising Future: Atal, Rajmata, and a Modern Gwalior
Recalling Gwalior’s illustrious legacy, Dr. Yadav paid tribute to Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Rajmata Vijayaraje Scindia, whose roots lie in Gwalior. He emphasized that the Sukhoi fighter jets used in India’s surgical strikes took off from Gwalior, further reinforcing the city’s national importance.

ISBT Inauguration and Education Initiatives
Congratulating the people of Gwalior on the inauguration of the new ISBT, the CM said the terminal is a symbol of smart infrastructure and modern urban planning. He also announced that the state government had distributed laptops to over 94,000 meritorious students, strengthening its commitment to youth empowerment.
The Hajira Hospital in Gwalior was recognized as the best in the state, and the CM urged that it be upgraded to offer bypass surgery and advanced healthcare services.
Ambedkar Dham in Dabra to Be Expanded
Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, present at the event, announced that Dr. Ambedkar Dham is being constructed in Jaurasi village of Gwalior district at a cost of ₹8 crore. In its second phase, a grand complex on 50,000 sq. ft. of land will be developed. He stressed that this site will serve as a national centre for Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s ideology, education, and social justice.
Scindia praised Chief Minister Dr. Yadav for launching an industrial revolution in Madhya Pradesh and reaffirmed that the Western Highway project and other infrastructure investments worth ₹12,000 crore are transforming the Gwalior region.

Other dignitaries present at the event included MP Bharat Singh Kushwaha, Energy Minister Pradyuman Singh Tomar, and Water Resources Minister Tulsi Silavat. Kushwaha said, “A leader with vision and intent can transform a state, and Madhya Pradesh is fortunate to have Dr. Yadav at the helm.”
