Bhopal: In a warm and symbolic gesture ahead of Raksha Bandhan, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav will release a special Raksha Bandhan shagun of ₹250 to over 1.26 crore beneficiaries of the Laadli Behna Yojana. This gesture, in addition to the regular monthly installment of ₹1250, will be officially disbursed on August 7 from Narsinghgarh in Rajgarh district at around 2:45 PM.
Special Rakhi Gift from the CM to His “Sisters”
Dr. Mohan Yadav has repeatedly emphasized that the women of Madhya Pradesh are not just citizens but his sisters, whose dignity, safety, and development are of utmost priority to his administration. The ₹250 shagun is intended as a symbolic Raksha Bandhan gift, reinforcing the emotional bond between the CM and Laadli Behna beneficiaries across the state.
“This shagun is a small gift from a brother to his sisters on Rakhi,” said CM Yadav recently, noting that this additional amount is over and above the monthly ₹1250 under the scheme.
Empowering Women Through Direct Benefit Transfers
The Laadli Behna Yojana is a flagship welfare initiative of the Madhya Pradesh Government aimed at the economic upliftment of women. Currently, more than ₹1500 crore is transferred to beneficiaries every month. The government has already announced that the monthly assistance will be gradually increased, reaching up to ₹3000 per month by 2028.
On Bhai Dooj following Diwali, the state government plans to increase the amount from ₹1250 to ₹1500 for all beneficiaries, continuing its phased enhancement strategy.

A Vision Aligned with PM Modi’s Goals
The Madhya Pradesh government under CM Yadav is actively working to realize Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of women-led development. From reservation in government jobs and urban/rural bodies to promotion of self-help groups, the government is facilitating multiple avenues for economic empowerment of women.
Dr. Yadav reiterated that, much like the 33% reservation for women in Parliament proposed by PM Modi, the state government remains equally committed to ensuring social security, employment, and dignity for women in every sphere.
District-Wise Distribution and Direct Benefit Monitoring
The funds for both the 27th installment and the Rakhi shagun will be transferred directly into bank accounts of eligible women beneficiaries under strict monitoring to ensure transparency and timely credit. District-level events and awareness drives will accompany the state-level launch.
