Bhopal: MP Govt Assigns IPS Officers to Oversee All Divisions in Major Law & Order Push
In a major administrative decision aimed at strengthening law and order, the Madhya Pradesh government has assigned senior IPS officers to oversee all divisions across the state.
The move, announced by the Home Department, is intended to ensure closer monitoring of police functioning, faster review mechanisms, and enhanced accountability at the divisional level.
Decision Taken in High-Level Meeting Led by CM
The decision was taken during a high-level meeting held in Bhopal, presided over by Chief Minister Mohan Yadav.
During the meeting, the state’s internal security apparatus and the efficiency of policing were reviewed in detail. Officials stated that the new arrangement would enhance coordination and strengthen governance and administration at the divisional level.

Objective: Faster Review and Clear Accountability
According to the government, assigning IPS officers at the divisional level will:
- Enable real-time monitoring of law and order
- Improve coordination between districts
- Ensure accountability of police functioning
- Expedite decision-making and review processes
This system is expected to create a stronger chain of command and more effective supervision.
IPS Officers Given Divisional Charge
As per the new order, the following senior IPS officers have been assigned responsibilities:
- Varun Kapoor – Bhopal Division
- Upendra Kumar Jain – Ujjain Division
- G Akheto Sema – Chambal Division
- Pankaj Kumar Srivastava – Jabalpur Division
- Anant Kumar Singh – Sagar Division
- Rajababu Singh – Shahdol Division
Earlier Assignments to Continue
The government clarified that previously issued orders will remain unchanged. Under earlier allocations:
- Pragya Richa Srivastava – Gwalior Division
- Adarsh Katiyar – Indore Division
- Anil Kumar – Rewa Division
Major Administrative Reform in Policing Structure
This move marks a significant structural reform in Madhya Pradesh’s policing system, with senior officers now directly responsible for divisional oversight.
Officials believe the decision will help improve operational efficiency, strengthen supervision, and ensure better implementation of law enforcement policies across the state.
