Bhopal: After returning from his official visit to Dubai and Spain, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav is expected to initiate a major administrative reshuffle across the state. From the corridors of the Secretariat to district headquarters, the buzz around this impending “administrative surgery” has sent a wave of anxiety among non-performing IAS and IPS officers.
Administrative Changes from Ministries to Districts
Reliable sources indicate that the reshuffle will affect positions from Principal Secretaries and Secretaries in ministries to Collectors, SPs, and Divisional Commissioners in various districts. Officers who currently handle multiple departments may see a reduction in responsibilities, with a focus on streamlining portfolios and improving governance efficiency.
Collectors of Over a Dozen Districts Likely to Be Shifted
At least 12 district Collectors may be transferred in the coming days. Among the names doing the rounds are Collectors from:
- Alirajpur
- Bhind
- Dhar
- Ratlam
- Shivpuri
- Guna
- Rewa
- Jabalpur
Notably, Jabalpur Collector Deepak Saxena is likely to be elevated to a state-level role, while others could be reassigned based on performance reviews.
Deputy, Joint, and Additional Collectors Also to Be Reassigned
A large number of Deputy Collectors, Joint Collectors, and Additional Collectors—estimated at over 100 officers—are also expected to be given new postings. This includes those who were recently promoted and now await roles as Joint or Additional Collectors.
The administration is also working to ensure that each district has at least one ADM and Joint Collector, especially in 8–9 districts currently lacking these posts.
Special Consideration for Officer Couples
In a notable step, the government is prioritizing fair postings for officer couples, ensuring that husband and wife are not posted in the same district, which can sometimes lead to administrative imbalances or perceived conflict of interest.
Why the Reshuffle Now?
The reshuffle is being seen as part of CM Mohan Yadav’s broader strategy to:
- Improve administrative effectiveness
- Replace underperforming officers
- Strengthen governance before upcoming reviews or events
- Realign responsibilities post-international engagement
The move follows public concerns over governance issues in several districts and is intended to give fresh momentum to the state machinery.
