Bhopal: In a strong push to promote academic excellence, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav announced a range of supportive measures for meritorious students during the Swarn Sharda Scholarship-2025 distribution ceremony held in Bhopal. Among the many heartwarming moments at the event was the announcement that MP Board Class 12 topper Priyal Dwivedi will receive full support from the state government to study at Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) — one of India’s premier engineering institutions.
Per Capita Income Sees Massive Rise Since 2003: CM
Highlighting the state’s ongoing progress, Dr. Yadav said that Madhya Pradesh’s per capita income has surged to ₹1.52 lakh, a sharp rise from just ₹11,000 in 2002–03. He added that the state has achieved remarkable development in multiple sectors, including:
- Irrigation: An additional 7.5 lakh hectares of land brought under irrigation in the last 18 months.
- River Linking Campaign: Several districts will benefit through improved water access.
- Industrial Growth & Investment: Special efforts are being made to boost industrialization and attract investors.
Incentives for Academic Excellence
To encourage academic achievers, Dr. Yadav reiterated the government’s ongoing initiatives:
- Laptops and scooties for students scoring over 75% in Class 12 and topping their schools.
- Cash awards and citations for top-performing girl students across districts.
Support for Priyal Dwivedi’s Higher Education Dream
Priyal Dwivedi, a student of Government Higher Secondary School, Amarpatan, and the state topper in Class 12 MP Board exams, shared her ambition of studying at VIT. Due to financial constraints, she feared her dream might remain unfulfilled. Moved by her determination, CM Yadav immediately assured full support, saying the state government will fund her education at VIT.
Dr. Yadav also awarded ₹1 lakh to Priyal and ₹1 lakh to her school, recognizing both individual merit and institutional contribution.
Recognition of 66 District Toppers
The Chief Minister also honored 66 top-performing girl students, one from each district. Each student received:
- ₹50,000
- A certificate of merit
- Words of encouragement for their future academic journey
- Dr. Yadav concluded by reaffirming the government’s commitment to nurturing talent, saying:
“The future of Madhya Pradesh lies in the hands of bright students. We will ensure no student’s dream remains incomplete due to financial limitations.”
