Kolkata: Hindustan Copper Limited (HCL) has strengthened its senior leadership team with the appointment of Ajay Chandraker as Head of Department – Materials, Contracts and Marketing. The decision was formalized during the company’s 461st Board meeting held on March 30, 2026.
Experienced Leader with Strong Procurement Expertise
Ajay Chandraker is a Mechanical Engineer with an M.Tech in Operations Research from National Institute of Technology, Durgapur. He brings over 32 years of experience from the Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), having served at Bokaro, Durgapur, and IISCO steel plants.
His areas of expertise include:
- Procurement and material management
- Inventory optimization
- ERP implementation
- Government e-Marketplace (GeM) procurement
- Vendor development and contract management
He also holds a Professional Diploma in Contract Management from the Indian Institute of Materials Management and has undergone training in Public Procurement at the Arun Jaitley National Institute of Financial Management.
