Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh has positioned itself at the forefront of India’s mining sector, becoming the top state in mineral auctions and a national model for mining reforms. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, the state auctioned 29 mineral blocks in 2022–23, earning the first position nationally. Recently, MP also became the first state to implement the Centre’s critical minerals auction policy, highlighting its commitment to strategic resource development.

It follows the success of the October 2024 mining conclave in Bhopal, where the state received investment proposals worth over ₹20,000 crore.
Pioneer in Strategic Mineral Exploration
Madhya Pradesh is leading the way in mining critical and strategic minerals like gold, graphite, copper, manganese, and rock phosphate. Key developments include:
- Diamond: The Majhgawan diamond mine in Panna is India’s only active diamond mine, producing over 1 lakh carats annually.
- Gold: Gold blocks have been auctioned in Singrauli and Katni, with new finds reported in Jabalpur and Sleemanabad, indicating rich future prospects.
- Copper: Malajkhand in Balaghat hosts India’s largest copper mine.
Tech-Driven Monitoring and Anti-Illegal Measures
