Bhopal — Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav today inaugurated a state-level symposium and training workshop titled “Coordination with Environment”, organised by the Public Works Department (PWD) in Bhopal. The event brought together nearly 1,500 engineers from across the state to promote awareness and adoption of eco-friendly and sustainable construction technologies.
Focus on Environmentally Aligned Infrastructure
The primary objective of the symposium is to enhance the technical capabilities of engineers by introducing them to sustainable construction practices and sensitising them toward environmental preservation. As part of the workshop, engineers are being trained on the preparation of Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) under the PM Gati Shakti Scheme, along with hands-on training in GIS-based mapping of roads and bridges.
Experts from the Bhaskaracharya National Institute for Space Applications and Geo-informatics (BISAG-N), Gandhinagar, are leading the training sessions, offering insights into modern, tech-driven infrastructure planning tools.

Indian Architecture: Rooted in Nature, Not Circumstance
In his address, CM Dr. Yadav emphasised that India’s architectural heritage is inherently nature-centric rather than circumstantial. Citing the example of Bhopal’s historic Upper Lake (Bada Talab), he highlighted how traditional Indian construction practices have always maintained a harmonious relationship with the environment.
He stressed that every government department must now incorporate environmental balance and coordination into its project planning and execution. “This workshop aims to create a foundation for such integration, and the outcomes are expected to have long-lasting and meaningful impact,” he said.
Leadership Presence & Policy Perspective
The event was graced by key dignitaries including:
- Rakesh Singh, PWD Minister
- Gopal Arya, National Coordinator, Environmental Protection Activity
- Dr. T.P. Singh, Director General, BISAG-N
CM Yadav praised the initiative and noted that the state’s road construction projects have already been placing a strong emphasis on environmental conservation. He added that engineers—who are well-versed in mathematics, science, and technology—can play a crucial role in overcoming the complex challenges faced in modern construction by adopting green technologies.
