Lucknow: A Gram Panchayat in Lucknow’s Nigoh area, Natauli, is making headlines across the state and even reaching the national stage for its exemplary development initiatives. The village’s high-tech Gram Panchayat office has become a benchmark for other villages in Uttar Pradesh, showcasing how innovation, transparency, and effective governance can transform rural administration.
Modern Gram Panchayat Secretariat Attracts Attention
The Gram Panchayat Secretariat, developed at a cost of approximately ₹5.5 lakh, is equipped with modern facilities and has drawn the attention of officials from other states who have visited to study its operations. The secretariat houses separate cabins for the Gram Pradhan, Panchayat Secretary, Employment Officer, Panchayat Assistant, and Lekhpal. A Common Service Center (CSC) has also been set up to allow villagers to access all government services, including income certificates, caste certificates, residence certificates, pensions, and ration card applications. Services are provided at a nominal fee of just ₹30, making them affordable and accessible for rural residents.
Digital Infrastructure and Youth Engagement
The Gram Panchayat Secretariat is equipped with high-speed Wi-Fi, attracting students and youth from Natauli and nearby villages to utilize the facility for education and digital services. The presence of modern technology has not only facilitated online applications for government schemes but has also helped increase the revenue of the Panchayat, which is now being reinvested in operational costs, incentives for staff, and other developmental works.
Enhanced Security Measures
To ensure safety in the village, a total of 46 CCTV cameras have been installed, including 32 cameras at public places and 14 in local schools. These cameras are linked to an announcement system and monitored through a central control room in the Gram Secretariat. This has helped reduce criminal incidents and ensure better surveillance. Additionally, an open gym has been set up at the local school to encourage physical fitness among children.
Upcoming Facilities: Library, Open Gym, and Green Spaces
The Gram Panchayat is also developing a library, open gym, and shaded parking area within the secretariat complex for the benefit of villagers. The initiative reflects a holistic approach to rural development, integrating education, health, security, and governance within a single, accessible campus.
Recognition and Awards
The remarkable development efforts of Natauli Gram Panchayat have earned recognition at the national level. The Gram Pradhan, Sushpendra Bahadur Singh, has been honored by the Government of India, while proposals to award the Panchayat itself have been sent to the state government. The modern secretariat and associated facilities stand as a testament to the fact that with dedication, transparency, and vision, rural areas can achieve development levels comparable to urban centers.
The Natauli Gram Panchayat demonstrates that a combination of technology, good governance, and community-focused initiatives can make villages self-sufficient, secure, and sustainable. With its high-tech secretariat, improved services, and upcoming recreational facilities, the village is now setting an example for others across Uttar Pradesh and beyond.
