NEEPCO Appoints Mr. Samiran Sinha Ray as New CHRO to Strengthen HR Leadership and Future Growth

New Delhi / Shillong: North Eastern Electric Power Corporation Limited (NEEPCO) has appointed Mr. Samiran Sinha Ray, a senior human resources leader from NTPC with nearly 35 years of experience, as its new Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO). Currently serving as Chief General Manager (HR) at NTPC, Mr. Ray has been on secondment to NEEPCO, and his elevation underscores the corporation’s commitment to strengthening its HR leadership to support future growth and organizational transformation.

Distinguished HR Career Spanning Nearly 35 Years

Mr. Ray, who joined NTPC Limited in 1990, has built a distinguished career marked by significant contributions across regional and project-level HR functions. Over the decades, he has held leadership roles that helped shape robust HR practices, talent management systems, and employee engagement initiatives across multiple regions and units of India’s largest power generator.

Leadership Across NTPC’s Key Regions

Before joining NEEPCO, Mr. Ray served as the Regional Head of HR at NTPC’s Northern Region Headquarters (NRHQ), Lucknow, the corporation’s largest region comprising eight major projects, two joint ventures and a solar project at Nokh. He also held additional charge as Regional Head of HR for Eastern Region-II in Bhubaneswar, overseeing five significant power projects and contributing to organizational stability and workforce development.

Earlier, Mr. Ray led HR operations at Eastern Region-I Headquarters, Patna, and served as Head of HR for major NTPC projects including Farakka and Barh, where he played an instrumental role in enhancing HR systems, improving employee relations, and supporting project execution through strategic workforce planning.

Experience in NTPC Joint Ventures

Adding to his comprehensive HR portfolio, Mr. Ray has also contributed to NTPC’s joint ventures, including:

  • NTPC-SAIL Power Company Limited (NSPCL)
  • Bharatiya Rail Bijlee Company Limited (BRBCL), Nabinagar, a subsidiary of NTPC in collaboration with Indian Railways

His familiarity with the diverse operational models of these ventures enriches the depth of expertise he brings to NEEPCO.

With his deep institutional knowledge, strategic HR acumen and decades of leadership experience, Mr. Samiran Sinha Ray is expected to play a pivotal role in strengthening NEEPCO’s human resource framework. His appointment is seen as a key step toward bolstering talent development, organizational culture, and future-ready HR systems, supporting NEEPCO’s long-term growth objectives.
