BEML to Be Principal Manufacturing Partner
Under the agreement, BEML will serve as the primary manufacturing partner, working alongside TuTr to design and build a prototype Hyperloop pod capable of transporting passengers and cargo at ultra-high speeds. The system will be powered by advanced propulsion technologies including Linear Induction Motors (LIM) and Magnetic Levitation (Maglev).
Shantanu Roy, CMD of BEML, called the partnership a vital milestone:
“This partnership is a leap forward for India’s aspirations in high-speed, clean transportation. It exemplifies our commitment to Viksit Bharat 2047 and Atmanirbhar Bharat by turning futuristic mobility into a reality powered by Indian engineering, innovation, and manufacturing.”
Academia-Industry Synergy to Power Hyperloop Innovation
TuTr Hyperloop, backed by deep scientific research at IIT Madras, brings innovation-led design, engineering, and systems expertise to the table. According to Prof. V. Kamakoti, Director of IIT Madras, the collaboration demonstrates the power of industry-academia partnerships in building future-ready infrastructure.
Dr. Aravind Bharadwaj, CEO of TuTr, added:
“We’re translating scientific breakthroughs into scalable mobility solutions. This MoU with BEML enables us to go from lab to full-scale application with world-class precision.”
A Revolutionary Leap in Transportation Technology
Hyperloop is an emerging transportation mode where pressurized pods travel inside near-vacuum tubes at very high speeds with minimal friction. This system is expected to surpass conventional road and rail networks in terms of speed, energy efficiency, and environmental impact. The proposed indigenous system will be tailored to India’s geography and economic needs, offering a sustainable alternative for future intercity travel and logistics.
Contributing to National Mobility Goals
By combining TuTr’s innovation with BEML’s large-scale manufacturing and infrastructure capabilities, the project supports national visions like Viksit Bharat 2047, Atmanirbhar Bharat, and Green Mobility Missions. It also places India on the global map as a leader in next-generation, clean transportation systems.
