New Delhi: A bold new chapter in India’s digital journey has been unveiled with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between NBCC (India) Limited and the Centre for Development of Telematics (C-DOT). The collaboration marks the launch of a futuristic institutional campus and Data Centre at C-DOT’s 40-acre premises in Mehrauli, New Delhi, at an estimated cost of Rs 220 crore.
The MoU was formally signed between Dr. Rajkumar Upadhyay, CEO of C-DOT, and Mr. Pradeep Sharma, Executive Director (Business Development) at NBCC, underscoring a powerful public sector synergy aimed at boosting India’s innovation landscape.
A Visionary Ecosystem of Technology and Innovation
Spanning a built-up area of around 53,000 square meters, the project is envisioned as a self-contained ecosystem of high-performance infrastructure, sustainability, and digital excellence.
Key highlights of the project include:
- A cutting-edge Data Centre and Network Operations Centre (NOC) Block
- Striking Technical Towers
- A Training Centre with integrated hostel facilities
- Residential and Non-Residential Buildings for staff
- A Recreation Zone
- A Smart Reception and Security Node
This multi-purpose development will not only support C-DOT’s expanding operational and R&D needs but will also serve as a hub for digital innovation and institutional growth.
NBCC to Lead as Project Management Consultant (PMC)
NBCC will oversee the entire project lifecycle as the Project Management Consultant (PMC). The role includes master planning, design, execution, supervision, and ensuring all statutory approvals are obtained. NBCC’s appointment followed a competitive bidding and negotiation process, reaffirming its stature as India’s premier project execution authority.
The project has a completion timeline of 36 months, subject to regulatory clearances and environmental nods.
A Beacon for Digital India & Atmanirbhar Bharat
The architectural design of the Technical Block and Data Centre is set to become a landmark element, possibly featuring a lit-up C-DOT logo visible in the Delhi skyline — a powerful symbol of India’s digital aspirations.
Future-ready in its approach, the infrastructure will incorporate:
- Green building standards
- Energy-efficient technologies
- Intelligent layouts and modular spaces
- Potential vertical expansion capabilities
- A skywalk connecting to existing campus structures
Together, NBCC and C-DOT are giving form to the Digital India and Atmanirbhar Bharat vision through infrastructure that fuses engineering precision, tech ambition, and nation-building ethos.
Leadership Speaks
“C-DOT has always stood at the forefront of India’s telecom R&D. With this new-age infrastructure, we are reinforcing our commitment to innovation and national service,” said Dr. Rajkumar Upadhyay, CEO, C-DOT.
“NBCC is proud to be associated with a project of such national significance. We aim to deliver an iconic facility that reflects India’s tech renaissance,” said Mr. Pradeep Sharma, ED (BD), NBCC.
A New Innovation Landmark for India
This mega venture is not just a construction project — it represents the birth of a 21st-century innovation sanctuary. Once completed, the new C-DOT campus is expected to emerge as a national model of smart institutional infrastructure, blending visionary design with technical sophistication.
