The Uttar Pradesh government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Mr. Yogi Adityanath, has reiterated that there is no shortage of fertilizers anywhere in the state. Farmers have been advised not to hoard fertilizers unnecessarily and to purchase only as per their requirements. To ensure transparency, complaint centers have been established in every district, allowing farmers to immediately report any irregularities.

Strict Action Against Black Marketing

Chief Minister Mr. Yogi Adityanath has directed officials to conduct regular inspections and interact directly with farmers. He emphasized that strict action will be taken against those involved in black marketing or charging excessive prices for fertilizers. The government’s monitoring mechanism has been strengthened to prevent exploitation of farmers during the peak agricultural season.

Record Fertilizers Sales in 2025

Data from the Agriculture Department highlights a significant increase in fertilizer sales this year. Until August 18, 42.64 lakh metric tonnes of fertilizers were sold, compared to 36.76 lakh metric tonnes during the same period last year. Urea sales rose from 27.25 lakh metric tonnes in 2024 to 31.62 lakh metric tonnes this year, showing a growth of over 16%. Similarly, sales of DAP, NPK, MOP, and SSP have all recorded steady increases.

Fertilizer Stock Availability Across Mandals

The government has ensured sufficient buffer stock in every region. As of August 18, Uttar Pradesh had 37.70 lakh metric tonnes of urea available, of which 31.62 lakh metric tonnes were sold. DAP stock stood at 9.25 lakh metric tonnes, with 5.38 lakh metric tonnes already distributed, while NPK availability was 5.40 lakh metric tonnes with 2.39 lakh metric tonnes sold. Mandal-level data shows adequate supply in major districts including Kanpur, Prayagraj, Varanasi, Gorakhpur, and Lucknow.

Focus on Kharif Crop Season

With the sowing of Kharif crops completed, fertilizer consumption is being closely monitored. An average of 49,564 metric tonnes of urea is consumed daily for the top-dressing of paddy crops. The government has ensured that farmers receive timely supplies without facing shortages.

Development-Oriented Governance

The Uttar Pradesh government’s proactive approach towards fertilizer distribution not only safeguards farmers from exploitation but also strengthens the state’s agricultural productivity. By maintaining adequate supply and curbing malpractices, the administration is ensuring that the farming community remains confident and focused on crop output.
