Suzlon Energy Ltd has announced that it has secured a 378MW wind energy project from NTPC Green Energy Ltd (NGEL), a subsidiary of the state-run NTPC, further cementing its position as a leading renewable energy solutions provider in India.
In a filing with the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) on Wednesday, Suzlon stated, “Suzlon has just consolidated its largest partnership with NTPC Green Energy to 1,544MW, with a recent award win of a 378MW wind energy project. This win strengthens our undisputed market leadership and commitment to sustainable, large‐scale growth.”
Under the terms of this contract, Suzlon will supply 120 units of its S144 Wind Turbine Generators (WTG) equipped with Hybrid Lattice Towers (HLT), each having a rated capacity of 3.15MW. The scope of the project also includes foundation, erection, commissioning, and comprehensive maintenance and services.
Mr. Girish Tanti, Vice-Chairman of Suzlon Group, highlighted the strategic importance of the partnership: “As NGEL aims to expand its renewable energy portfolio to 60GW by 2032, this partnership lays a crucial foundation for showcasing the key role of wind in powering India’s largest PSU’s renewable journey by providing high‐quality, affordable power. From our first project in Gujarat to expanding into Karnataka, our shared commitment to advancing India’s leadership in the global clean energy movement continues.”
The agreement marks a significant step in Suzlon’s collaboration with NGEL, as both companies align to accelerate the transition towards clean energy and support India’s ambitious renewable energy goals.
On the market front, Suzlon Energy shares were last seen trading 0.40% lower at Rs. 59.05, reflecting a 9.63% decline year-to-date. Despite the dip, the new project is expected to strengthen the company’s long-term growth prospects in the renewable energy sector.
