Faridabad: NHPC Limited, a “Navratna” enterprise under the Government of India, celebrated its 51st Raising Day alongside the completion of 50 years of excellence. Grand events were held at the Corporate Office in Faridabad, as well as across all regional offices, power stations, and projects nationwide. The celebrations highlighted NHPC’s significant contributions to India’s hydropower sector and renewable energy initiatives.
Union Minister and Dignitaries Grace the Occasion
The Chief Guest, Mr. Manohar Lal, Hon’ble Union Minister of Power, Housing & Urban Affairs, along with Mr. Sachin Kishore, Chief Post Master General, Haryana Circle, Mr. Bhupender Gupta, CMD NHPC, Directors, CVO, and Independent Directors, inaugurated the ceremony by lighting the traditional lamp. The event also witnessed the presence of senior officials from the Ministry of Power, Central Electricity Authority, Central Electricity Regulatory Commission, and CMDs of other power PSUs.
Custom Stamps and Achievement Book Released
To commemorate 50 years of NHPC, the Chief Guest released a customized “My Stamp” issued by India Post, featuring 12 iconic dams and barrages symbolizing NHPC’s engineering excellence. In addition, the “Achievement Book” documenting NHPC’s journey, technological milestones, and contributions to India’s power sector over the past five decades was unveiled.
Hon’ble Ministers Highlight NHPC’s Role in Nation-Building
Mr. Manohar Lal praised NHPC’s role in ensuring India’s energy security and emphasized its contribution to achieving the nation’s Net Zero Emissions target by 2070. He urged the organization to continue adopting technological innovations and expanding renewable energy capacities. Mr. Shripad Naik, Minister of State for Power, New and Renewable Energy, and Mr. Pankaj Agarwal, Secretary (Power), also extended their congratulations and highlighted NHPC’s pivotal role in the country’s hydropower development and green energy initiatives.
CMD Bhupender Gupta Honors NHPC Workforce
Mr. Bhupender Gupta, CMD NHPC, extended his greetings to all employees and expressed gratitude to the Ministry of Power and other stakeholders for their support over the past fifty years. He emphasized NHPC’s legacy of excellence and its commitment to nation-building through hydropower and renewable energy projects.
Cultural Events and Employee Recognition
The celebration featured vibrant cultural performances by renowned singer Anand Raj Anand and comedian Sanket Bhosale, along with NHPC employees. The NHPC Awards Scheme 2024-25 winners, including Best Power Station, Best Construction Project, Exemplary Commitment, NHPC Star, and Star Students of Classes 10 and 12, were felicitated. Various departmental publications were also released during the ceremony.
Commemoration of Vande Mataram’s 150th Anniversary
The event also paid tribute to the 150th anniversary of the national song, “Vande Mataram.” Employees and officials, including the CMD and Directors, joined a live webcast to listen to the Prime Minister’s address organized by the Ministry of Culture, celebrating this historic milestone.
