State-owned hydro power giant NHPC Limited has announced a significant investment plan, signing an initial memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Rajasthan government to develop renewable energy projects worth approximately ₹50,000 crore.
The MoU, signed on September 30, 2024, encompasses the development of various projects, including pumped storage, solar, floating solar, wind energy, and battery energy storage systems throughout Rajasthan. This initiative aims to bolster the state’s renewable energy infrastructure and contribute to India’s green energy goals.
In addition to the new projects, NHPC also revealed a revised commissioning date for its existing 300 MW Solar PV Project located in Bikaner, Rajasthan, now scheduled for completion by March 31, 2025.
This strategic investment aligns with the central government’s commitment to enhancing renewable energy capacity and reducing carbon emissions, positioning Rajasthan as a key player in India’s transition to sustainable energy.
