Vaishali: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Friday visited the Buddha Samyak Darshan Museum and Memorial Stupa complex in Vaishali district to review ongoing development works and assess tourist facilities. The visit is being seen as a significant step toward boosting Bihar’s Buddhist tourism on a global scale.
Focus on Strengthening Tourism Infrastructure
During the inspection, Nitish Kumar directed officials to improve maintenance, expand visitor amenities, and ensure better management of the entire परिसर. He emphasized that the site should offer a seamless and enriching experience for both domestic and international tourists.
He noted that Vaishali holds immense historical and spiritual importance and that the museum-stupa complex has been developed in an attractive and well-organized manner. He also highlighted the eco-friendly design , aimed at providing visitors with a शांत and spiritual environment.
Inauguration of New Pathway
The Chief Minister inaugurated a newly constructed pathway connecting the Buddha Samyak Darshan Museum-cum-Memorial Stupa to the ancient relic mound. This new route is expected to improve accessibility and enhance the visitor experience. He also observed stone panels installed within the complex that depict Buddhist symbols and teachings of Gautama Buddha, offering insights into his philosophy and life.
Offering Prayers for Peace and Prosperity
During his visit, Nitish Kumar offered prayers before the statue of Gautama Buddha installed at the ground level of the Memorial Stupa. He prayed for peace, prosperity, and well-being across the state.
Boost to Buddhist Tourism Circuit
The Bihar government has been actively working on developing a comprehensive Buddhist tourism circuit linking key destinations such as Bodh Gaya, Rajgir, Patna, and Vaishali.
The extended circuit allows tourists to travel further to Kesariya Stupa and Lauriya Nandangarh, eventually reaching Kushinagar, a major site associated with Buddha’s Mahaparinirvana.
Economic and Cultural Impact
The Chief Minister stated that the development of the Buddha Samyak Darshan Museum and Memorial Stupa will play a vital role in enhancing tourism, preserving cultural heritage, and generating local employment opportunities. He stressed the importance of maintaining high standards at the site to position Bihar prominently on the international tourism map.
Dignitaries Present During the Visit
The visit was attended by Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary, MLA Siddharth Patel, senior administrative officials, and Buddhist monks. Officials briefed the Chief Minister on ongoing construction and future development plans for the complex.
