Patna: Bihar is rapidly emerging as a new destination for filmmakers, with approval granted for the shooting of 45 films and projects across multiple languages, reflecting the growing impact of the state government’s film promotion policy. From feature films and documentaries to web-based content, production activity is expanding across key locations in the state, supported by subsidies, single-window clearances, and administrative assistance.

According to the latest list released by Bihar State Film Development and Finance Corporation Limited for the financial years 2024–25 and 2025–26, a total of 45 film projects are currently being produced in Bihar, signalling strong momentum in the state’s creative economy.

Projects in Multiple Languages Reflect Bihar’s Expanding Film Ecosystem

The approved projects represent a diverse linguistic mix, showing that Bihar is attracting not only regional cinema but also wider multilingual productions.

Language-wise Distribution of Approved Films

• 22 Hindi films

• 19 Bhojpuri films

• 1 Magahi film

• 1 English-Bhojpuri film

• 1 Hindi-Maithili film

This language diversity reflects Bihar’s growing relevance not just for Bhojpuri cinema but also for mainstream Hindi productions and regional storytelling rooted in local culture.

Feature Films, Documentaries and Web Content Included

Among the 45 approved projects:

  • 38 are feature films
  • 6 are documentaries
  • 1 is a web series

Officials say the range of formats indicates that Bihar is increasingly being viewed as a viable destination for both commercial cinema and content-driven productions.

Since July 2024, filming of 39 projects has already been completed, while the remaining productions are currently underway in different districts.
